I would think the age difference between your wife and the boys was too great to make acquaintances a tad difficult. A friend of mine believes the accident was in 1960 or 1961 which could easily be correct. That would lead me to believe that the car was driven by Jim Charpie and not Jerry.

I have been told that the girl killed in the crash was Elizabeth Mann. Now, when I checked my 1960 Gleam, I see that Elizabeth was a senior. So she would have graduated in May of 1960. This leads me back to Jerry Charpie. It could be that she was dating a boy a year younger than her, but not likely. Since she had a senior picture, she must have been alive in the Fall of 1959.

Good guess, but not correct. However, Truman was "familiar" with the donor group.

This is the site for her headstone and details.

I have no idea, but December may have involved bad weather or simply driving too fast. My guess is that they were headed home. If you look at the link I just provided, she lived on Ellison Way.

I'm not coming up with any information on such a church. There is still a Maywood Baptist. They take donations too.

July 4, 1942 to Dec 14, 1959; that is so sad.

Later became Northern Blvd. Methodist. According to their website, under church history, a new building was under construction at the time of the trivia questions date. So whoever gave the donation was probably helping with the new facility.

That response is not unrealistic considering there was a nationwide surge in KKK membership during the 1920s. Many otherwise respectable people became involved.
