Same here to everyone. Someone needs to light a firecracker under Silver Doc and get him back on here. He had a lot of information to share.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go light some cherry bombs and hope the sheriff does not see me. (We here in Centennial, CO, may be the only city (106,000), that is not in and of itself a combined city and county, to have a sheriff)

Yes, that is correct! Nothing being added on but it's all being used for courts. The Truman Courthouse at 112 West Lexington consists of records, collections, assessment, and some city of Independence tourism offices. By the way, I'm back and I'm sorry for leaving you all for so long!!!! I was here in spirit though..

I think he may be hanging out on FaceBook, but don't know for sure. For those interested the FB Group is "Independence-Then and Now"

I dont do Face Book much but I looked in to this group. The opening page has a 1948 photo of the corner of Lexington and Main looking west on Lexington.

The Plaza Theater is plainly visible in the distance and it looks like Minnehaha the Indian can be seen standing in front of one of the smaller shops around halfway to the Plaza.

I remember seeing the Indian many times when I would accompany my parents to town and knew it was on that block of Lexington but I do not remember exactly what store it was at.
