Excellent! Thanks, Mad. I am glad 1) you found the article, 2) to find out I was not imagining this place.

The address given seems a bit off - at least according to google maps. Google appears to place that address near the Library entrance. The PPP was to the north of the library.

215 N Osage should have been the first unit north of the alley.

Are you referring to Smallwood Noland, and his discovey of "gold" on the Kansas River about 160 miles west of here?

That was him. Now, where was that west Kansas goldrush at?

Production lasted only two years and those still in existence are known within the automobile resale industry as ultra-rare.

The model lineup included a two-door hardtop, a four-door hardtop, and a convertible.

The model came off the Detroit assembly line, went to another plant in Detroit for further work and then went to a Chevy dealer for sale at $800 higher than the highest cost Chevy.

Besides Chevrolet parts, the model also contained a few parts from Kaiser-Fraser, Chrysler, and Ford manufacturers. In addition to steel, the body also was partially fiberglass with some stainless steel.

The car was so rare, I doubt if Bostian Chevrolet on Maple Street ever had the chance to even see one. I never saw one, myself.

What Chevy model was this?
Kev 2732 came up with the right answer of El Morocco back in May 2015.

A 1957 Chevrolet El Morocco black convertible sold on Barrett Jackson auction today for $165,000. The announcer said it might be so rare a car that not many people were willing to bid on it.

Will you be driving it on your next trip back to Independence?

I guess they might, but I've never heard of that being a county building.. not that I can remember anyway. I want to say the state owns it, but that might not be right either.

According to an allegedly very reliable source, the old City Hall is indeed owned by Jackson County.

There have been a few changes in this area since this photo was taken in 1963. Identify the location.

HINT- I did examine this carefully, and am pretty darn sure there is not a Chevrolet El Morocco on any of the streets.
