HI,

I have been offered a job opportunity with a design studio situated in Mission, Kansas offering a package of 55K. Is this enough considering I will be moving with my wife and 8 month old daughter. I am currently based in India. I would like if someone could advise me on this matter.

thanks,

Bharat

Hard to say without knowing what sort of home you expect, how much debt/expenses you have, etc., but it is possible for a family to live comfortably in the Kansas City area with an income of $55k/year.

Mission was the first place we lived in the KC area when we first moved here. It is really a wonderful place to live while being close to everything. The houses in Mission are smaller, older, and affordable. Will be a good size for your family right now. 55k is sufficient provided you don't have a lot of debt.
There is a large Indina population here and the main Indian grocery store is a straight shot down Metcalf. We shop there periodically ourselves. Good luck with your decision.

I will be moving from India... so apart from a car which I think I will need to buy and rent... there won't be no debts as such. Is it advisable to push my employer to 4500$ / month as cash in hand: after all the tax etc deductions?

Default Salary

You want to live in Overland Park, KS where there is more people from India.
Get more of a salary if you can, once you start living in Johnson county, your expenses might go up
