I found a great little apartment near this location. I am just wondering about safety/crime rates, etc as it is right smack in the middle of downtown.

This is Midtown, not downtown. Pretty far from Downtown actually.

I think there are quite a few threads about the Armor Blvd corridor of apartment towers from Broadway to Gillham, aka Hyde Park etc so you might do some searching. But that entire corridor of what was once under-utilized hotel buildings from the 20's and 30's has been mostly restored to market rate apartments and most of the crime issues that were once plaguing the area have been chased out.

I think it's turning into a great urban corridor of KC, but you will want to check as I'm sure each building and block will vary.

I lived on Wyandotte a few blocks south of Armour for close to five years and enjoyed it. I never had any issues with safety/crime.

It can be a busy/hectic area between two major streets (Main and Broadway) and right in the middle of Midtown so you can get some shady characters/activity nearby, so if you are especially sensitive to this, it may not be the best area.

For me, the best aspect of that location is the walkability to numerous bars/restaurants/shops and central location between Downtown and Westport/Plaza.
