No emissions inspections last I heard anywhere in KC.
Not sure about Kansas, but Missouri requires a simple safety inspection that costs 12 dollars before registering your car. Rarely would it fail for any major reason as long as your car is in reasonable condition. Almost seems like more a formality rather than a serious inspection. The most they can charge by law is 12 dollars, so few mechanics are going to spend much time doing it.

Thanks. We both have 2013 vehicles but he's bringing his older 1988 Silverado work truck and wondered about that. The dmv website said no for Kansas but said in certain counties of Missouri. I'm not familiar yet with the county names. He wants no more then 30 min commute for work. I'm on disability. I've been looking in Raytown,Gladstone, places like that. My 87 y.o. Mama in law will be with us. Nobody else in family wants her. I've had her now 7 yrs. She does okay. Not sure how will work all living together. I'm looking for a 3-4 bed home. Even with hotel discount almost 40.00 night. Why looking to buy or even rent if we need too. If I can find something that's not a cracker box we should be okay. Lol. At this point I'm trying to look at it as an adventure. Hubby is 60 and I will be 60 in July.

Those counties would be in the St. Louis area.
Jackson County, Missouri is the big urban county for Kansas City. Raytown is located there. I lived in that county and never had to do an emissions test.

As far as I know, the only area in Missouri that does emissions tests are in St. Louis area.

Primary reasons for not passsing MO inspections are tail lights/headlights and brakes.
