Ladies and Gents,

Thanks for your help. I am getting ready to move to KC on August 4th for a job opportunity and am really looking forward to it. I have narrowed it down to a 2 bedroom place in the Plaza Area but was unsure which buildings.

Alot of the reviews of places I found online were 4-5 years old so not sure how accurate they are. I would greatly appreciate both reviews on these places in addition to others I should look at.

Looking to rent under 2k/month for a 2 bedroom place (My Room and the other will be office/guest room), looking for a good fitness center, and a pool. I am hoping to find a nicer/newer, younger, apartment complex.

* Fountain View on the Plaza
* Cambria Apartments
* Madison 45 apartments
* West 39th Street
* Icon on the Plaza
* City Place at Westport

Again thanks for your help and guidance.

Those are all OK+ but I wouldn't limit search to newer buildings as there are many older buildings that have been completely rehabbed and with more character. Newer buildings also tend to have thinner walls and more neighborhood noise, like Fountain View. They also may be built with all wood and could go up in flames much faster. But all of those are OK and in good areas.

If interested in Google Fiber (near free low speed 5Mbps or $70 Gigabit), check out this list that shows buildings with Google...

I don't have any personal experience from living in any of these apartments (although I have spent time in Fountain View and I agree that the construction seems pretty cheap, especially for a relatively high price) so I will just give some info on the locations.

How familiar with the city are you? Are you familiar with the differences between Plaza, Westport and the 39th St West areas?

Cambria and Icon are the only two located directly in the Plaza, so if you plan on spending a lot of time at the Plaza and want easy walkability, those could be good options.

Fountain View is just off the Plaza. It is a gated, sprawling, suburban style complex, so it feels a bit isolated.

45 Madison is also Plaza adjacent, and would put you fairly close to Westport, while City Place is directly in Westport and you can guess which district West 39th St is located in. I don't believe W 39th has a pool, nor the two directly on the Plaza.

Another option you could look into would be the Bellerive or Park Central both by Mac Properties. They have the amenities you're looking for and might offer a good community for someone new to town and looking to meet people. I know they have regular social events for all Mac Property tenants - for example they just had a post 4th of July recovery party on the morning of the 5th, serving bloody mary's by the pool. The downside is that those buildings aren't as close to the entertainment districts as the others - although they are quite close to Martini Corner.

If you love the loft look, you may want to look at the Crossroads, River Market, and Downtown loop.
