Hello board--I am relocating and needing some connectivity-any opinions regarding Google fiber, Comcast, and others would be most welcome. Thanks!

Google Fiber, is by far the best if its available in your area, we ended up with a much cheaper bill, more channels faster internet, a less committed contract with better customer service and way less outages. That's before getting into perks that the others don't offer things like an integrated app system that allows you to watch Netflix and Youtube from the TV guide, being able to search by search engine (we are dealing with google) every show on the air in the past currently and in the future, by different characteristics such as a particular Actor/actress, sports team, show title, show genre etc, and recording setting recording options from it. Your selected cable boxes syncing with your google account (ie if you set a reminder on gmail with your phone, the reminder will show up when you're watching tv) and a two terabyte storage cloud, and a free nexus tablet. The only thing to really consider is that if you need more than 4 cable boxes, thats the max allowed and you won't be able to. Having a an ecosystem like Google gives them a huge edge over the competition.

Sorry to sound like an advert, but i'm quite a bit more pleased with it than I ever was with TWC/Comcast.

What brandthom said. I also have Google and love it. Had Time Warner for years and couldn't stand them...horrible customer service and internet download speed was ridiculously slow, especially in the evening. If you have any problems with Google, they are at your house quickly and make sure everything is working correctly before they leave.

Google fiber is making all of the other providers panic. With internet speeds of over 500 mb's per second, no one else is even coming close right now. If we had Fiber out here in California, I'd buy it immediately.

I'm stuck with TW Internet right now and it's awful. I've spent the last week at about 5% of my normal speed, which for a self-employed person working at home is a major handicap. They either can't fix the problem of are taking their sweet time. I've signed up for Google Fiber but construction may not be done in Waldo for 4-6 months. It can't come soon enough.

Bottom line, everyone I know who has Google Fiber adores it. If you're just after Internet, it's about the same price as Time Warner for 15 mbps: around $70 per month (if you want TV and the rest, it's $130). But that's for 1000 mbps and no dealing with Time Warner. Check the area you'll be living in and see if Fiber is available. If it is, sign up. No brainer.
