While I have always been pretty hard on KC's lack of recreational infrastructure and the city and metro really does have a long way to go in that department, one thing that I have praised in the past is KC's Disc Golf courses.

From reading this article, it sounds like things have only gotten better and KC has developed a national reputation for having a great disc golf community and courses. There are many more courses and people involved in disc golf in KC than when I lived there and KC had some of the best courses at that time. I used to play it all the time all across metro KC and now play them in the DMV.

Things have changed since you left KC..

He noticed that in the Kansas City area, as opposed to Denver, people actually use the parks.
Had some work people in a month ago from Minneapolis and Atlanta offices and they were shocked how busy some KC parks were compared to theirs.

KC's recreation opportunities are pretty abundant, really.
