^Thanks, especially thefallensrvnge.

I saw an awesome photo tour of rural Nebraska several years on another forum and the photographers made a zigzaggy, spoked loop through the entire state and really showed off Nebraska possibly better than anybody ever has. You could tell they had a real passion and love for their state. Anyway, until now, I was sure Nebraska had Kansas beat, now I'm not sure. I think those Nebraska guys, had they been from Kansas, could have made Kansas look just as good as they did Nebraska.

It just goes to shows that Kansas is indeed the hidden gem I suspected it of being.

Is that so? I was thinking western Nebraska has more features, maybe a wider coverage of areas that aren't just flat or flat-out plain. Does that sound about right?

Uh...except a few small oxbows (which occur in Kansas, too) there are no natural lakes in MO, either.

And while Missouri has a better range of fishing, there is excellent fishing in Kansas, both on its bigger rivers and on its reservoirs. Wilson Lake is especially pretty (and remarkably blue):

But depending on the species, there are better fishing lakes. Clinton is nice and next to Lawrence. Perry has good fish populations as well.

More or less, yes.

Eastern Kansas is prettier than eastern Nebraska. Western Nebraska is prettier than Western Kansas.

Yep.
Nebraska has a far wider range of features, state wide. I mean, a lot of Kansas IS genuinely flat...
Very little of Nebraska is.

Kansas is absolutely as beautiful as Nebraska. No question! And it's not just the ground, but also the sky. Hard to be the ferocity of a Kansas storm. Scary, but beautiful.

Both states have an understated beauty to them.

Michael Forsberg has a lot of his pictures featured in NEBRASKALAND magazine but he has taken fantastic pictures in all of the plains states. Do a google using his name and check out his work. Thanks for posting the great pictures on this thread.

Day before yesterday it was 80 degrees here in Lincoln and I was out with the GF riding the motorcycle until the wee hours. We wake up this morning and the motorcycle is covered with three inches of white stuff. Oh well this is Nebraska after all.
