Our lease is up on August 1 and we're looking to move to a bigger apartment. It's me, my husband and our 2 small daughters (both under age 2).

Because we need something on Aug. 1, we're up against the big student housing rush and we're really trying to avoid that. We've spent 3 years living in the student ghetto (as non students) and would like something quieter. But every time we find a place listed that would work, it's already been snatched up. It's getting close to July 1 (when we need to put in our notice to move) and we're getting antsy.

We'd like a longer lease, if possible, than the standard 12 months. And we don't really care where in town we live. The cheaper, the better.

Also, does anyone know anything about Easy Living mobile homes? Over near 33rd St. and Iowa.

Thanks in advance!

Did that replace the old Gaslight Village at 31st and Iowa? You would be close to all major amenities. But that still puts you close to a big student-filled apartment complex.

Looking at Google Maps, it looks like Gaslight Village is still there - although I think they sold off part of it to build Home Depot. There's also the MHP on the west side of Iowa @ 33rd.

To the OP - if you want to move in August in Lawrence you probably should have been looking in March or April.

Something you didn't mention was your budget. How much can you comfortable afford to spend? Define "student ghetto". There are a few complexes near Clinton Parkway and Crossgate or Inverness that look nice.
