Kobach is rumored to be running for the Republican party for Kansas in 2018. He's probably just as extreme as Brownback. I have no idea who would run for the Democrats at this point. Unfortunately I would lean that Kobach has the advantage this far out even with all the problems as Kansans just tend to vote for the party and not the person as we saw in 2014

To write this just after another poster mentioned sebelius makes no sense.

I don't care if we get another (R) or a (D) as long as we get a reasonable, intelligent person instead of the dimwit Brownback.

It sure isn't Kobach. He is another far right conservative who wants to implement his own agenda as he sees fit at the expense of the taxpayers. He was the one that also continually thinks voter fraud is widespread when studies show it is very low.

His own agenda? What agenda is that?

At the expense of the taxpayers? How so?

I had never heard of the man until mentioned in this thread. Googled him and did a half hour of reading various pieces. Seems he's mostly about doing something about illegals and the way they milk the system at the expense of the taxpayers. And the way they displace others in the job market by undercutting market labor rates and enabling employers to ignore wage, hour, and working conditions laws Americans put in place long ago and have lived by for many decades.

Americans, real Americans, want something done about this....contrary to what CNN and MSNBC would have you believe.

What you keep calling "far right conservatives" are just normal people, with normal goals, aspirations and values. They are the backbone of America and, particularly so, of the heartland. They built this once-great nation and are the only hope for its future.

Keep taking far-left media sources seriously and you'll never cease to be surprised at election time. The people don't want what they're selling.

Kobach is obsessed with voter fraud even though taxpayers have to foot the bill for his agenda to tackle a reported problem that is quite small. Illegal immigrants are an issue that can easily be used to divide things up nicely, but much of the issue in Kansas goes back to how the local economies are structured and the supposed "demand" for immigrant labor- jobs Americans "don't want to do." Now that Brownback has successfully implemented his new regressive tax structure that impacts the middle class and poor population more it will be easier for politicians with interests aligned with big corporate donors to cut taxes for the wealthy even more. Kobach also lives in the Johnson County bubble, unlikely he would know much of anything about the rest of Kansas or the correct policies that need to be considered to improve fortunes there. JOCO needs to start fending for itself instead of waiting for corporate welfare tax subsidized handouts to build even more items that are not needed with that 10%+ sales tax on everything.

Kobach to Brownback, Back to Kobach and then to Johnson County in response to a question about immigration. Nice rant.

And by the way, it is the state's job to see to implement and enforce voter laws. This "taxpayers have to foot the bill" is a cop out.

In most of rural Kansas outside of the KC metro area nearly all the illegal immigration is associated with big commercial agriculture operations. Employers hire the workers and do not want to change. I'd like to see how Kobach would deal with that issue. By the way, if you don't like big ag operations don't purchase from them. Kobach has a law background so he can focus on those core issues. I don't think his background in economics will ever get him far in regards to running for governor.

There's so much misinformation and ideologically driven fantasy here that I just don't know where to start....or, more importantly, why I should bother.

So, instead, I will just decompress.......
