Here's a nice article in today's NY Times on Nicodemus, KS, a tiny town in NW Kansas that was settled by ex-slaves in the 1870s: Nicodemus

That is an excellent article. I knew a little about the town and would visit if not so far from where we live. It is one of the "feel" good stories that one rarely sees anymore.

Kansas seems all right to me after one week of living in Dodge City. I am interested in seeing how my wife and I's 2015 Federal and State Income tax is going to come out here, indeed. Hopefully above water!

Well, since you'll only be paying on 5 months of KS income this year, it should help. Moving expenses if not paid by the employer can help.

Glad that Dodge City, so far, seems all right and hope it continues. August is not the best month in KS and it is unusually warm here in Central KS.

Employer is paying for the moving expenses. Going to have to go slow on the 2015 taxes and look for itemized deductions from each and every angle. Might think about paying someone ta do our 2015 income tax return. Have ta see.

Oh yeah, we are warm over here in Dodge City, too. Whew!
