Thank you two so much, empires228 and thriftylefty, for that information. I am definitely going to apply for the Fort Scott job. I am a Pacific NWerner, and a position in my field has gone empty there for a couple of months, so I am going to start with these two jobs. The one in Washington is in little Colville, WA, a town of around 4,000 people, half of Fort Scott's population.

Yeah, the old buildings, that entertainment you were talking about thriftylefty, believe it or not, a good, competent Wal*Mart, a Stage and the like, and we might just like it there.

The improvements to Highway 54 will be nice ta be able ta cruise quickly ta the KC Metro - actually that's huge! So, we shall see what the fickle finger of fate might bring us. I also like the relative closeness to Joplin and even more, Rolla, MO. I got my Allied Healthcare training at ECC/RTC there at Rolla....love ta trip back places I've been to, ya wonder what you're gonna find.

Lawrence to Manhattan to Abilene to Sylvan Grove to Lucas to Nicodemus to St. Francis then 36 into Denver.

When in Lawrence, be sure you make it to Massachusetts Street and the rest of the downtown area. I'd hate for you to go through Lawrence without realizing that's the more historic (and interesting) part of town. The campus of the University of Kansas is also worth a visit if you haven't passed through previously. It's located close to the downtown area, and it's a beautiful place to walk around.

Many people commute back and forth between Nevada Missouri and Ft. Scott. I wouldn't rule out Nevada if housing in Ft. Scott is not suitable. Nevada is a small town 19 or 20 miles east on 54. It’s a small town that seems to be holding its own. They used to have the state hospital there. They have; 3M, Heartland Treatment Center, Nevada Regional Medical Center and an all girls college, Cotty College. It’s only about 8,000 people there. Like all the towns along that corridor crime stats are high due to theft which is driven by drug addiction.
