KDHE keeps silent for over 6 years in Haysville.
It appears our Legislature has effectively blocked KDHE from investigating any new groundwater contamination by former dry-cleaning businesses. When they inadvertently learn of a new site, KDHE choses NOT TO TELL.
When I was a youth, we went to Haysville every summer to pick peaches. There were lots of orchards & truck farms in Haysville at the time. Then groundwater pollution (was it Vulcan Chemical, since gobbled up by Koch?) was found.
I recall when Brownback swore to KS Independent Oil & Gas Assoc. (KIOGA), & printed in their newsletter prior to any public announcement, that any KGS investigation into earthquakes would not look into well injection as a concern.
THE FRACKING TRUTH:
as stated by Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association in its March-April 2014 newsletter:
"KIOGA President Edward Cross met with Governor Brownback on February 28th to discuss this and other issues. The Governor said it was not his intent to even infer any correlation between hydraulic fracturing and seismic activity. Despite what the media reports, the task force is not looking at the relationship between hydraulic fracturing and seismic events."

The state’s top geologist said Monday there is no evidence to suggest the recent spike in earthquakes in south-central Kansas is directly related to a controversial drilling technique known as hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking.”
But he said it probably is related to a byproduct of oil and gas production, whether fracking is used or not, which is the massive amount of saltwater that comes out of oil and gas wells and is later injected into disposal wells farther below the surface.
