I drive across the entire state of Kansas eight to 12 times a year, and have for 14 years. I'm not tired of it yet. I enjoy the scenery along I-70 from Kansas City until about Colby.

As for music to cross the prairie, I recommend Beethoven's Symphony. All of them. Starting with number one eastbound, you should be well into the Choral finale of number 9 as you pass the final rest stop before Topeka.

Ok. No, I've never tried that.

Just did it twice, only used highway 36 from Colby to the MO border and back; drove miles without even seeing another vehicle.

I thought I'd be bored, and wasn't; as 36 is the Pony express highway with nice historical towns along the way.

I also must mention, having resided in or visited over 30 states; Kansas has the friendliest residents I've ever met.

Belleville, KS and Marysville are notable towns on route 36 in my view.
