On my travels across the country I sometimes travel through Kansas. This is a song I listen to sometimes when traveling through Kansas, it seems to suit Kansas perfectly well.

When I drove through Kansas, I made sure I listened several times to this song by Loretta Lynn:

Topeka, by the way, is a fabulous gem of a town. The high school is an amazingly inspired structure, and the capitol building is lovely.

I can't stand country music but to each their own.

When I drive through Kansas I like to listen to a song called "People of the South Wind"...............

Now if I could just remember the name of the group that sings it.

'Blowin' in the wind.' Bob Dylan.

That would be Tennessee to me, not Kansas.

I was born in Kansas, I was bred in Kansas
And when I get married I’ll be wed in Kansas...

This is the one I would choose. We used to sing it in grade school growing up in Kansas.

We also sang a song that went “In eighteen hundred sixty one, 100 years ago, there lived a little skunk that rose to fame. He lived out west in Kansas with the deer and buffalo. Sweet, sweet William was his name. He was a Kansas kitty, Kansas kitty. He wasn’t big and he wasn’t pretty. Kansas kitty, Kansas kitty, friend of the Kansas pioneer.”
