Goodland is a great place. Friendly people, quaint quality, beautiful parks - you just need to drive into town to get a good feel. It is on it's way up...know they are getting a new grocery store in the fall, and their technical college is really happening. Also just got a big grant to remodel schools.

If the only reason your looking to relocate to Goodland is for the kids? or the small town charm? you won't find that there. It is toooooo far from services. Would you like to drive 4 to 6 hours to find a specialist for your complicated health condition? There are thousands of towns within an hour of a metropolitian that are far better than Goodland

You would not have to go 4 to 6 hours to a city. We are 2 1/2 hours from denver. Goodland is a great place to raise a family. And Lenny, that is too Goodland. We have just recently had a new bar open up downtown called The Basement, another bar/restraunt that is very nice called Shiraz (spelling might be wrong on the name), along with a hotel reopening, and we are suppose to be getting a new grocery store downtown. I would choose Goodland over and over again to raise a family, great traditional values in this small town.

Let me give you the ugly firsthand. I've spent 25 years restoring homes in the Midwest to nothing but accolades, & made the MISTAKE of buying a rental home in Goodland 3 years ago. Due to the economy the building sat empty most of that time. The town is full of ratty old windowless structures, but instead of focusing on those, the outsider-hating city council, & city manager, have made a concerted effort to harass me relentlessly since purchase. They have no problem LYING and fabricating complaints to acheive their goals! As for the locals, some (mostly outsiders) were quite friendly, most are distant(Not one adjoining property owner has spoken to me in 3 years!). Is it any wonder the town is losing population!

I hope this is true and Goodland can start growing and become a nice town out in Northwest Kansas.. I'd love for Western Kansas to rebound and become attractive to grow (within reason)

Not enough water there and it will likely get worse with a warmer climate. Drought is already becoming the norm, particularly southwest Kansas.

Which explains the growth in Burlington, Wray, and Yuma.
