In a society where, not that long ago, gay males were beaten to death and no one batted an eye, and where, only 6 months ago we all had nationwide marriage equality, it's important to be somewhere you will be able to be comfortable and not feel you have to hide yourself. Exactly. Gay people don't want to live somewhere where they have to lie to coworkers about having a partner in fear of getting fired. I suspect that the poster above would fine me mentioning that my partner and kids went skiing last weekend to be "ramming it down his throat".
