I'm trying to get an understanding of how Kansas property taxes work on vehicles. Since you have new tax law going into effect will there be any personal property tax on vehicles?

Will Kansas be like Florida, Texas and other states?

I see Missouri has a really high property tax on vehicles with most of the money going to failing school districts. You can own a car that's about 10 years old and still pay close to $300/year in property tax.

In Florida you can own a new car and the tax will be about $50 bucks.

Your school taxes (both personal property and real estate) go to the LOCAL district that you live in. If you consider your own district is "failing" and don't want to support it, then move to another district.

What is the comparison of Missouri real estate and personal property taxes vs. Florida real estate taxes? That's the more meaningful way to look at it.

Expensive! More expensive than MO! Both property and personal property taxes are high especially since the population is decreasing in most cities. Kansas is unwilling to change with the times and we all know what happens when that is the issue. They keep jacking up the sales tax too. And, it is not so much how much you pay but what you get for it and you'll see a lot go to salaries and benefits for government workers, salaries much higher than what those in the private sector of that city/county earn. Industries continue to close up and move elsewhere so someone has to support the government and that ends up being "you".

Sometimes a county's high property tax rate has little to do with home values. In states where the federal or state government owns a big portion of the land
