Hi Next spring I would like to visit the Flint Hills region for several days. I would be flying from Miami. What would be the nearest airport in that region?

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport would probably be a little closer than KC Int'l Airport. It kind of depends on what part of the Flint Hills you plan on visiting; they extend from Manhattan down south to the Oklahoma border.

You can actually fly into Manhattan, KS from MCI (Kansas City) which will put you right in the Flint Hills.

Once you lay out your trip and travels through the Flint Hills it may be easier for you to decide where you'd like to fly into.

Don't mind kcmo, he can be a cranky old curmudgeon and not typical of most you will encounter.

i guess if it isn't too late, i'd suggest staying with MCI and driving in. from miami, you MAY be able to get a direct flight to kansas city, more likely routed through atlanta or dallas, then you'd have to catch a commuter flight into manhattan or wichita. tho' from dallas you might be able to get a direct flight into wichita. if that's the case you might consider doing that. however, if you have to go into KC to get a flight to manhattan or wichita, you may as well drive. by the time you get on that flight and get to either destination, you could already be halfway to manhattan and then work your way south through the hills.
