How much more snowfall does northern Kansas get compared to southern KS? Wheres the best whitetail hunting region of the state? And why do people consider Kansas to have worse weather then Nebraska???

If someone thinks Kansas has worse weather than Nebraska, they haven't lived in Nebraska. lol

So far as north compared to south, no anecdotal experience here, but I would assume south would be more pleasant.
Also, being a state that straddles the 100th meridian, snowfall/rainfall is considerably less in the western half of the state than it is the eastern half.

Snowfall in KS? Not much relative to the Midwest. The area of KS that has the highest average snowfall is in the NW corner around Goodland due to elevation (3600ft). The area of KS with the highest treecover would be the southeast corner of KS (average annual precipitation 45 inches).

Southeast Kansas for White-tail. Parsons, KS was ranked a couple years ago as a top 10 white-tail towns in the US.

Southeast KS is good if you are an outdoors person. Just make sure you are able to get permission to use private land before using it to fish or hunt in season.

Well Columbus is on that line... Omaha gets more snow than Lincoln, for example.
But having grown up in Wayne, mossberg, I have to say your buddy is full of baloney.
I haven't seen ANYWHERE in Kansas that gets as much snowfall as we did in eastern Nebraska.

Compare:
Annual Kansas rainfall
Annual Nebraska rainfall
Columbus isn't on there, but you'll notice Norfolk gets about twice as much as Wichita.

Which does make sense.
I was just thinking in terms of total precip. Goodland might get more snowfall, but it's significantly less total precip. than the rest of the state.
More importantly, because winter temps tend to be warmer, even in Goodland, snow doesn't stay around too long. It might snow 8" one day, but it'll be gone within a few days.

The 10 years I lived in SE Kansas, it got more sleet/freezing rain than snow, compared to the rest of the state. I don't know what your friend is talking about with the snowfall in Wichita, unless he's a fairly recent transplant there. The past few years, all of Kansas has gotten more snow than is typical.

I'm more concerned with Kansans' reaction to the snow than to the snow itself, and after four years here, I'm afraid I'm becoming assimmilated. In Chicago, I couldn't have cared less, unless we really got a hammering, like the KC area got on Feb 1 this year. Now I'm getting soft and moaning when we get just a few inches.
