actually never thought of western Ky...just figured eastern side'd be closer to Ohio (our kids moved North)....we'd be very interested-creek really doesnt matter, just want my husband to be able to fish w/o having to drive too far...would you be able to do an owner/finance or rent to own or anything like that for about a year? If not, thats fine - just being honest because when he got sick, we lost almost everything (except whats most important)....let me know-thanks!

Oh sorry, no, we'd have to have the money up front. We just live off social security ourselves, so we'd need the money to buy a motorhome or 5th wheel. But I still think you should check out western Kentucky. It's really nice and beautiful.

I hate to jump onto someone else's thread with my own needs, but it looks like that has already happened here.

I'm looking for a little retreat in Eastern Ky. or Tn. can be near nothing with no electric but I'd like to have a little cave or hand dug abandoned mine shaft. Access can be pretty rough - I have the equipment. Will consider long term lease or purchase.

Money not a problem . . . within reason.

Here's a pretty property on 12 acres. Reasonably priced and looks like not much fix-up needed. Would this be solitary enough for you?

58 Die Road, Magnolia, KY, 42757 - MLS #10004971 - Single Family Home real estate - REALTOR.com®

Regards,
Susan

Here are a few more:

Maybe too much of a fixer-upper, but 66 acres:

Ac Lone Star Tower Rd, Bonnieville, KY, 42713 - MLS #32127 - Farms/Ranches real estate - REALTOR.com®

A great fixer-upper, but a little close to the road perhaps?

Almost a Farmer (http://www.hishmeh.com/listnow/listings.html?p=554maconkessingerrd - broken link)
and
554 Macon Kessinger Rd, Glasgow, KY, 42141 - MLS #32273 - Farms/Ranches real estate - REALTOR.com®

Saving the best for last (I'd like to buy this one mysefl):

555 Ernest Wilson Rd, Munfordville, KY, 42765 - MLS #31387 - Single Family Home real estate - REALTOR.com®

what great view it has for a contemplative writer! and close to Nolin Lake
for fishing.

This looks like a very cozy home, barn, and 28 acres:

As mentioned earlier, western Ky. is a great area and should be considered. The area around Benton is known as a great area for living on a retirement income. There are lost of places west of Lake Barkley that are heavily wooded and relatively inexpensive.
South eastern Ky. is known for the low average income of the residents particularly in Laurel Co. which is considered the lowest income in the state. Of course, it is pretty hilly and most homes are mobile homes.
Due to the economy and the problems with the Wolf Creek Dam on Lake Cumberland, there are a lot of areas selling very reasonably. Immediately around the Jamestown area are some really good buys. It seems like 1/2 the property in the area is for sale!!
Lots of places to check out!! Good luck!

Well, I looked at all of those listings, and while they are nice...mine is just as nice and it's cheaper! $90,000 Our home is 5 years old, single story on poured slab, 2 bedroom, bath and a half, half bath in the laundry room, open floor plan (kitchen flows into dining into living room), 400+ ft well with lots of good cold water, a 20 x 30 pole barn/garage, large garden area, long graveled driveway (our home sits back off the road approx 400 ft), 13 acres, approx 6 open pasture and approx 7 in trees, you will see squirrel, turkey, and deer here. 15 minute drive to shopping in Mayfield, 25 minute drive to Paducah, and approx 2 hours to Nashville, Tn.
