Something dated in 1990 may be a bit old; but, it's handy and it's a start. It may do someone some good.

My apartment building had it annual building-wide inspection for bed bugs this past week.

Does yours have one?

I know someone who did and their building passed.

Default Proposed Law

A U.S. Representative from Ohio has a law put together regarding bed bug management, prevention, and research -- House bill 967.

You will find a link to the text in my bed bug topic running in the Cincinnati pages.

No additional word on that bed bug law. My computer has not been working too well and research is practically impossible.

Regarding the law, two important things (as is understood):

1. Bed bugs would be put in the same category as cockroaches and be considered a health hazard. This would allow for more active participation in things by at least the Northern Kentucky Health department. Presently they can't do anything about apartment houses (private residences).

2. Labeling henceforth would not be able to say it kills the things if it doesn't (and, as is known, nothing kills them except some forms of direct contact, like stepping on them or drowning them in alcohol).

This much does seem to be the case however, the word "out there somewhere" is that "the bugs are 'under control'." So, what does that mean? That's not according to a lot of places.

Lastly, I did call the Covington city commission offices to make sure they knew there was a law proposed. At least Covington should be aware of it.

Two important things are coming into focus in discussions.

1. It seems like there's a substantial number of products on the market that are less than effective with marketing that implies they will solve someone's problems. (That proposed law mentioned goes into some of this.) Personally speaking, since someone else goes to the store for me, I can't say what some such things might be in Northern Kentucky (or Greater Cincinnati); but, evidently there's enough that some activists are concerned.

2. Recent news has included stories of some people who stayed at a given (foreign) hotel that died due to poisoning from a chemical used (or in that particular case, seriously over-used) to get rid of the bugs. Mis-applied insecticides can be deadly.

3. Also, I might mention, I'm also posting things on the Cincinnati board as there are more people there willing to address the matter.

Default Insurance Against Bed Bugs

It seems at least one insurance company is looking into offering insurance against bed bugs. And, I can't explore the matter due to my "dicey" computer system. Apparently it's meant to be at least insurance against loss of business. (??)

There's a longer post in the Cincinnati room.

A recent area event regarding bed bugs: another fire in Cincinnati -- seven people homeless and $100,000 in damages.

Many people do not understand that alcohol is a CONTACT killer.

It may very well be easier to get rid of bed bugs than this thread.
