Buckner is a nice place--still growing. Oldham County schools are some of the best in KY. Oldham County is a farming community that turned in to a bedroom community for Louisville. Local telephone service so it is often considered Louisville by a lot of people. (Except the mailman!) I have some friends that live there and they love it. Thier middle school son plays football and soccer, golf. They are involved at the YMCA, church and school. The downside may be the commute to downtown (20 to 30 minutes), but if you are used to longer commutes--No Problem!

Default Who is local historian?

On the subject of the town of Buckner -- I'm looking for someone who knows history about the area. I'm coming your way in September in search of Buckner family history and would really like to visit with that person, or those persons.

My great-great-great grandparents, Thomas and Hannah (Burton) Buckner, came from Virginina about 1795 and settled on a farm about 20 miles from Louisville. Thomas later became high sheriff of Jefferson County. That makes we wonder if perhaps the town of Buckner is named for them.

Please help me out -- I'll be driving almost a thousand miles (one-way) for this search and want to make it as productive as possible.
