First of all, let me say that I've had the chance to grow up here in Owensboro, and it's been OK-
The people are nice enough, I've never felt unsafe here, and this town is growing, albeit slowly. Downtown is coming to life, the new hospital is under construction, and suburban areas are spreading out even more.
But wow, as a mid 20's single guy without kids or extended family, who's not into drugs, team sports, or church, what is there to do for fun? I spend more time planning my next trip out of out of town than I do for recreation here. I'd hate to be missing out on something I don't know about.

For recreation, unless it's boating on the Ohio or golfing at Ben Hawes, Owensboro doesn't offer a lot. I mean, there's that park on J.R. Miller Boulevard, but I'm not too familiar with Owensboro's park system otherwise. The city offers very little in the way of facilitating bicycle traffic.

Hate to say it, but your next recreational opportunity may be at Rough River, Malone, Kentucky, Barkley, or Patoka Lakes. Pick one. Or, hopefully picking up a local cougar at Gambrinus, a nice bar (but I don't see Owensboro having much of a "cougar scene.") Or, crashing with your buds while drink in Louisville or Nashville.
