Yes, I am bored this evening and felt like doing this. And yes, since Kentucky has 120 counties, you may have to jog your memories, consult your atlases, etc.

I'll quickly list the counties I've not been to: Ballard, Carlisle, Union, Monroe, Cumberland, Robertson, Elliott, Lawrence, Martin, Pike, Estill, Owsley, Lee, Breathitt, Clay, Leslie, Knott, Perry, Letcher, and Harlan.

So, with 20 counties that I've not been to, that means I've been to 100 counties. I looks like I need to do a Southeastern Kentucky tour.

How about you?

Let me tell you that you are missing NOTHING by not visiting Ballard and Carlisle counties. As for the one's I have been to??? I will have to think about that and get back to you.

PS: I will be consulting the atlas.

Go. It's a lot easier and cheaper than trying for all 50 states.

Take too long to count them all but just about all west of I-65 I've been to and several across the state.
Carpathian, I've always said there's a lot to see right here in Kentucky. Not just in Kentucky, but in any state, no matter where you live, you should make it a point to see as much as you can in your own state.

I've not been to Ballard, Carlisle and Union west of I-65. All others I have been to.

I'm a WKY native and would like to get to these three counties. And, kentuckydad, what is wrong w/ Ballard and Carlisle?

Now, one county down that way that I've been to and know I'm not missing out on is Fulton. I mean, damn. Although I do think it would be kind of cool to take one of the few ferries operating along the Mississippi River, the Hickman-Dorena Ferry.

Counties I've been to: Hardin (live there), Meade (job interview), Nelson (BRAC tour), Bullitt (I worked there and made sure I made no other stops there), Jefferson (work there and will be moving there).

Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton...all pretty much the same. There is nothing "wrong" with Ballard and Carlisle if you enjoy the whole watching paint dry thing.

So far I've seen:

Jefferson, Hardin, Bullitt, Oldham, Shelby, Washington, Hopkins, Meade, Taylor, Nelson, Marion, Simpson, Boone, Kenton, and Letcher

That's more than I thought! Most of those were due to my brief time as an EMT--thank God it was brief!

5 down, 115 to go. Go see them.

But most of rural America is that way, anyway. I guess Carlisle Co. might be totally dry, but at least Ballard County has some swamplands and the Wickliffe Mounds that might be of redeeming value.

This is a pretty good list of balanced counties that give you different aspects and perspectives of the Commonwealth.

Oh sorry I forgot: Grayson, Breckinridge, Franklin and Woodford counties. One of my favorite memories of my early times in this area was going to the tree lighting ceremony in Frankfort.
