Murry is consistently named on "Top Places to Retire" stories and web sites. That just a gorgeous area. I agree with the others that it is certainly worth a visit or two to check it out. I'm not a big rural guy, but this is a great area if you like small town living.

Maybe somebody else in here can help me with this. I hear on the radio from time to time, and I've read it somewhere, about how many visitors go to the LBL a year compared to Mammoth Cave, Churchill Downs, etc. LBL beats them all hands down. Anybody else know where that information is?

You won't find many small lakes, natural lakes like in Wisconsin. But one can think of the pretty numerous individual bays on big impoundments at something like little lakes. And there are rivers and creeks too, some with worthwhile fishing.

I happened to fish a fair amount in both Kentucky and Wisconsin when I was younger. The fishing is different but if you want to fish a lot in a milder climate this area would seem like a pretty good choice.

I might lean toward Murray. Some of the difference of opinion you are getting about the two towns may be home city and state pride with a bit of state rivalry.

Murray is great town. Close to many interests, lakes, university, good retirement place. I went to Murray State and then resided there on the lake "Panarama Shores" off KY Lake (Blood River Bay area).

LBL is home to a bunch of small lakes. Energy lake and Hemitite lake being two of the most popular. There are small lakes and ponds scattered all throughout LBL. You can get on the LBL website and get good, detailed maps of the area that show all the lakes.

NW and Xi, I went fishing at Lake Energy Sunday. I don't usually do very well over there because I'm a bank fisherman and there's a whole lotta water for the fish to get away from me. lol But there was a man walking along the bank and was catching some nice size bass.
