Another "fun" thread. With summer here (almost), what drive-in's or restaurants make the best burgers?

My #1 has to go to Belew's Dairy Bar in Aurora, KY, right on the lake. Curb service and picnic table service. It's really a special place. The burgers are not thick, but they taste excellent. Be sure and get the peanut butter shake as well! We ate there last night. We ate there last night (me, wife and son) for $17. You can't beat that!

#2 has to go to Sammons Bakery in Murray. The buns are made fresh and the burgers are thick and juicy. Don't let the outside of the place fool you.

#3 goes to a chain restaurant, but it's a chain that you don't see many of around here. Sirloin Stockade in Murray. It's a steakhouse, buffet, salad bar, etc. They make the meat for the burgers out of the trimmings from the steaks they cut fresh. If you haven't had a burger made fresh from trimmings, you are missing out. Just look for the giant cow outside.

Where are your favorite burger joints in Kentucky? Let's hear it!

I haven't been to Belew's or Sammon's in years. Not that far from either one so I may have to check them out sometime this summer. Is Sammon's still on Chestnut over by the park?

Sure is! Get there early and pick up some donuts! The place is great.

I've actually been to Belew's two or three times. And it is pretty good. I'm sure you've also been to the Dairy Queen Brazier in Murray; while it is part of a chain, it feels and operates like a local '40s-era greasy spoon and they have some great burgers and grub.

I haven't actually had that many local burgers in Kentucky that just overwhelmingly "stand out" to me. I've always heard that Ferrell's in Western Kentucky (Madisonville, Hopkinsville and Cadiz) was really good, but I have yet to try them in my hundreds of trips there.

The best local burgers I've tried were at Arthur's in Cincinnati and a place called Thomas' in Los Angeles. The best chain burgers I've ever tried were from In-N-Out in California, although Sonic and Dairy Queen are very respectable.

Oh, and as a side note since you're from Murray, kentuckydad, the best onion rings I've ever had anywhere were at Sonic on 12th Street. I don't know if it was just the night I went or what they do right there, but they were deeee-lish.

Next time I'm in Louisville, I'll have to go to Flanagan's. I've never been there, but you're making me hungry for it.

I've been to three INO locations throughout California. When I move there, I'll be eating there much more regularly. They recently opened in Texas: ya'll watch this video to see the literal outcry and meltdown of support for INO in suburban Dallas,
YouTube - ‪In-N-Out Burger Makes Woman Cry!‬‏.

I've been to Five Guys in Crestview Hills in Northern Kentucky. I was very unimpressed. The burger itself was decent but unremarkable, but the fries nearly ruined the experience for me.

I moved to Northern Kentucky 2 years ago from the south. The best burgers I have ever had came from the "Dairy Bar" in Silver Grove, KY. Its a few miles from Riverbend to give you an idea. Nice little secluded town. Great all around food too, not just burgers.
