Hello, I have a friend that is thinking of moving to Ky. She needs to know what the property tax on cars and boats is, and how do they determine value.

In Kentucky, it totally depends on the address of the property. The house next door may be in a special taxing district for things such as fire protection, ambulance, even special school & business districts. Realtors generally do not have the correct information either. I advise two stops, the first should be prior to locating a property at the Kentucky Dept. of Revenue (
Kentucky: Department of Revenue - Property Tax . ) and search for your target county and sub-taxing district. Then prior to actual purchase, contact (best to go to office) your county Property Tax Administrator or PVA and get the PVA to give you an acurate tax rate for your specific property. (of course, a good Realtor will do this for you)

I am seeking cheap land for a sm vacation cottage to trail ride my horses, near a trail Park would be a plus or a min of acres to allow for 2 horses. I would drive from SE WI. So looking for something right straight down the Hwys and where the winters dont get too bad. Would like to find a place to retreat to with my horses in winters. Really just need a plot of land to build a prefab cottage on , and that I can do in 30 days.
