We just moved here from Washington State and arrived today. We have looked into the Greenville area for over a year now. We visited the area and found it to our liking. We went through Russelville and though very nice, still prefer the feel of Greenville... maybe because we're already familiar with it from online. Anyways, we are in a situation to wanting to buy a home and have the time on our hands and finances to check out some areas before settling in one. We are curious as to what other good farming communities we should check out? We would like to continue what we did in Washington and sell eggs and some organic vegetables and such. To answer some more questions that I saw in the newcomers sticky thread: We will be homeschooling, my husband is retired and will be working at home. I stay at home as well with our 5 children, five years and under. We would spend up to $210,000 on a home with 10+ acres and a barn. We are looking for some "community" in a community. Small town like Greenville maybe. Any suggestions you have we would love to hear. And we both love PIE! Thank you so much. We are so happy to be here finally.

One thing about around Kentucky now. Lots of towns have a farmer's market in town where you can go sell whatever you have. We have one in Cadiz, two in Hopkinsville, I think two in Paducah. Henderson has one and I imagine there are a lot more. My wife's uncle used to grow vegetables and sell some to stores and a few restaurants here in the lakes area. on the home with land, my step daughter and her husband bought a 3 BR, 3 bath house, with a basement set up to rent out, on 14 acres for $140,000. They're about 5-10 miles from Barkley Lake.
I'll always put in a plug for the Cadiz/Trigg County area and around Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. Welcome to Kentucky and good luck getting settled.
