I'd like to encourage everyone to consider taking a trip to Pike County Kentucky. We have breathtaking scenery with tons of outdoor activities, like white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, biking, hunting and fishing. We have Kentucky's most award-winning community theatre, the Artists Collaborative Theatre. Pike County's history is awesome widely known, being the site of the world famous Hatfield-McCoy Feud, and the second largest earth removal project in U.S. history, the Pikeville Cut-Through project.

If anybody wishes to learn more, fire me an e-mail and check out the website. Thank you all!

The areas that haven't been ruined by mountaintop removal are very nice...

Would the rafting and kayaking be on the Russel Fork?

Default Russell Fork White Water

Yes the Russell Fork White Water has been very popular among rafters and kayakers. I personally havn't done it, but then again, I cannot swim

The tourism site has a white water rafting (http://www.tourpikecounty.com/index.php?page=whitewater-rafting - broken link) page.

Pikeville and Pike County actually has real and palpable attractions. Breaks Interstate Park comes to mind first.

Really, this, as well as the Harlan County ATV trails and Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, comprise the US 119 corridor. This is really the best chance eastern Kentucky has of developing any kind of a real tourism industry.

Default Triving

As an employee of Pike County Tourism, I must say that there is a lot of great things going on in Pike County that one would not immediately realize. Our festivals, especially Hillbilly Days, draws more than 100,000 visitors each year. We are also in the process of developing different types of trails, and we're so excited to see this area develop.

Honestly, if I were a visitor, I'd make the trip for the outdoor stuff like you mentioned, and the live music.
