Regarding my last post:

Thanks so much for all the great info you gathered and shared, kichenwich, JoBeth and desiree! We've read over everything carefully and are mapping out the areas we'll take a look at on our scouting mission in November.

Just a few more questions if you don't mind:

1. Is there high-speed internet in Berea and Danville? If so, what is the typical cost (or a company I can refer to)?

2. What about the nearest (and better) hospitals near there? Specifically, pediatrics and emergency room care. We have a 9-mo old son with a severe food allergy and want to make sure we are close to a good hospital, just in case.

3. Are there any websites for rental properties in these areas? I have only been able to find homes for sale. Or, would we have to just call real estate agencies and the newspaper ads to look at a host of houses when we come in November?

Thanks again for your kind assistance!! Hope everyone there is as gracious as you all have been!

Berea has Windstream phone service, with DSL available pretty much everywhere. They are running a phone/dsl/satellite package that is real affordable. I just use the home phone service and dsl package, and pay about $65 a month.

There is Berea Hospital, located right on the strip through town, which is a pretty good hospital. Richmond, about 14 miles away, has Pattie A. Clay regional medical center. Plus, in the event of a major injury or illness, we have helicopters to air-lift patients to UK in Lexington. I actually prefer Berea Hospital over Pattie A. Clay, just my own little personal bias. I have always been treated well there, as have my kids.

Try checking the Richmond Register for rentals in the Berea area.

You can also go to Berea's paper, but it is not free on the internet.

The official website of the Berea Citizen

I would also suggest contacting a good realtor, even though you want to rent as many know of property managers, etc.

Hope this helps!

Default My opinion only

Are you sure you want to live in Berea, while your spouse works in Danville? Why not just live in Danville? It is a safe, quaint small town, and in close proximity to Lexington for any special needs. Just wondering!
