The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in western Kentucky has Wrangler's camp with over 100 miles of horse riding trails. I have friends who take their horses there on weekends and take their week long vacations there on weekends.

Also the first week in August is the 9 day trail ride in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. It's not that far to get to.

There are a lot of people who have horses around western Kentucky and a few state parks have horse riding trails

If you're looking for a cooler, dryer climate and less mold, are you sure Kentucky's what you have in mind? It's probably cooler and dryer than Florida, but that's like someone from Canada moving to North Dakota because they're tired of winter. Summers are very hot and muggy here, and mold is a terrible problem all through the Ohio River Valley.
