From the Huffington Post last week:

The Tea Party vs. The Public Library | David Morris

As a conservative (semi-so, anyway), I've lost ALL respect for the Tea Party. Attack fire departments across Kentucky for similar taxation methods while you all are at it, too, TP...wait, I'm sure someone has already thought of that.

That's b.s., as if women's studies teaches any tangible skill. A problem is to be overly educated an over-complicate things like how not to drive the economy into a hellhole.

Liberals dont want an educated electorate, and to some extent, have succeeded.

Neither party really wants us educated or informed. If the American people ever do get informed as a whole, the two current parties will fade away.

BINGO!! The oligopoly wants us content, confused, disgusted; anything except actively overhauling the system to increase its fairness and democracy.

Huh? Our small library recently obtained a new director who has made great strides to revitalize our library. WE have many new books, our staff is working diligently to provide and teach electronic capabilities and higher capibilities to our citizens. Maby in the larger picture our libraries have suffered, but in the smaller ones, who's people depend on them the most, they have grown and become stronger.

That's great - just what libraries should be.

It appears these Teaparty attacks on libraries are very carefully targeted against libraries in politically conservative communities, where the Teaparty line is more easily swallowed.

Deplorable.

This attack on libraries just reiterates the fact that I made the right decision by leaving Kentucky. I can care about the state as a native, most of whose family still lives there, but it is an embarrassment compared even to just MO, TN, IN, and OH surrounding it.
