You can't go wrong at either Cumberland Falls OR Pine Mountain - or at Natural Bridge either, for that matter.Just did a little driving around Lexington - leaves are finally starting to turn beautiful colors in significant numbers, though rain and wind are on the way. Enjoy it while you can, everyone...

I drove up from Danville to Lex yesterday during the storm, and was really surprised to see how much color was still on the trees, even with all that wind. I came back down after dark, so I don't know how much was still there, but we'll find out today. We're driving up to Frankfort, then coming east on the Frankfort Pike to Lexington, and back down again from there. I think we'll do Natural Bridge tomorrow, and maybe Pine Mountain Sunday and/or Monday.

There were lots of leaves downed by last nights storm, but not as many as I thought would be. It's kinda pretty right now.

Yeah, we went up up Frankfort and east on the Frankfort Pike to Lexington yesterday, and the drive was beautiful. Not as many colors as we would have seen had it not been for the previous day's hurricane, but still very pretty. Today we drove back up to Lex then down through the Daniel Boone National Forest to Natural Bridge, and up and down the Red River Gorge for a ways. Many of the trees were bare, but there was still a lot of gorgeous color. People better get out and catch it fast, because I don't think it's going to last long.

Well, Tell all the leaves to stay on just one more week. We will be back there next Sunday.

Weather forecast for Lexington and the rest of central Kentucky is for mild temperatures (60s) for most of the upcoming week, with a good chance of rain on Wednesday night, but clear the rest of the time. So while the rain will bring down some of the remaining leaves, at least the sun should be out and the temperatures comfortable for your trip.

A side note: the trees in Lexington have many more leaves than do the ones out in the surrounding countryside at the moment - the buildings shelter them, and provide a little more warmth in town. The Palisades were sort of spotty yesterday - what maples still have leaves have beautiful fall color - golds, mostly - but others were bare. Still beautiful...

We're in full color here in W. Ky. After the strong winds Halloween night my yard was yellow from all the maple leaves. I've mulched my once so far and looks like I'll be mulching again this week. I'm ready for the killing frost when all the pecans start falling. Ready to find some trees and stock up for winter!

I've been raking the yard. Now I have a huge pile in the street waiting to be picked up, and that was only 1/2 the yard!
