Banning Smoking in Vehicles-with Kids

i agree smoking is a choice that we are suppose be able to make on our own. but now a days that is changing.. I dont understand if the government wants to pretty much take our rights away as smokers. then why dont the people who make cigarettes take out the chemical that makes it addictive and then it would be much easier to quit.. but no they wont do that cuz then they would lose alot of money. its all about money its not really about health that is just what they say in order to get away from the truth.. if cigarettes wasn't such a big money investment for the government they would probably make them illegal. instead they are bullying us into where we can and cannot smoke and giving us fines for doing what is LEGAL.. that makes no sense to me. another thing is just because we smoke doesn't make us stupid we know it stinks we know it is a health problem not the main problem but a problem.. we know the risks but when it is outside in the open air I dont see a problem especially when diesel fuel is also polluting the air. And the factories that make cement are doing the same thing. they dont get criticized because they are doing good for the economy. It makes absolutely no sense. but i guess that is just me.

To me, it seems that is an invasion to ones freedom, to fine people who own their own vehicles and get fined because of "lighting up". The kids nowadays are no better than we were growing up. As a kid, I didnt have the asthma and heart problem and everywhere we went, we were around smokers.
It started off banning smoking in public places, and now outdoor patios are becoming smoke-free too. Is it not a huge "leap" to say smoking will soon be banned in our own homes?
I thought this was very interresting, and was wondering how some of you feel about this also. And is it also banned in places in Ky?
I"m really anxious to hear from you smokers and non-smokers out there.

Okay, I'm reviving a thread from 2007, I know. The smoking matter hasn't ended and I'm thinking about moving to Victoria, so I wanted to find out if moving from Minnesota will necessarily mean that I will be subjected to certain cigar and pipe smoke that gags me while I'm trying to shop for groceries. This article that I found was helpful in the first paragraph but then surprised me with the statement that "kids nowadays are no better than we were growing up" WOW, that can't be a real sentiment. I suspect this Unique Gal is baiting people as part of a sociology survey assignment. Anyway, in Minnesota, it's common opinion among doctors that children develop the same ailments that Unique Gal states she has because, in part, they have been over-exposed to smoke that they can't escape when their bodies are telling them it is not natural to breathe it in. They need something to deter the adults from smoking in the car when adults put children in the car, especially if the children are unable to open windows and get fresh air. I don't understand why people want children but so many go on to object to modifying their behavior for the sake of the health of those children.
