Hello everyone,

I grew up in Illinios, spent many vacations in KY and just loved it. Now I'm living in Phoenix, hating the sprawl, and hoping to relocate to beautiful KY.

I'm willing to take a bit of a hit on the income if I can find an affordable place to live in a rural setting. I've been searching homes on-line in the Bowling Green area and saw a lot of affordable housing in Scottsville. Then I noticed that many of the homes were being offered by an auction firm. Can anyone give me any information on what's happening in that area?

Thanks.

I'm not an expert on the area, but we relocated from Michigan to the Bowling Green, KY area, and our business - Computing Solutions and More - has an office in Scottsville, KY. We love the area and have no desire to move back to Michigan and put up with the miserable winters there. The residents of Scottsville have treated us like family and I would recommend the area to anyone who is looking for a beautiful area to live in, and who is looking for a less stressful way of life. Don't be concerned about all of the property you see listed by auction. In the north, a property sold at auction was commonly done because of bankruptcy, mortgage foreclosure, or estate sale. In this area, auctions are very common, and don't carry the negative connotations "property auctions" carry up north. An excellent website to view for real estate listings and property auctions in the Scottsville, KY area is: Mills Real Estate & Auction Co. Scottsville, KY

As a local, living North East of Bowling Green, I can second the notion of Auctions being a way of life. Locally the bankruptcy auctions are done at the "courthouse door".

Also, many realty companies are combined with auction companies.

Welcome to the area and Happy hunting for your next house.

Default Great Area

I have lived in the BG/Scottsville Area for the past severn years and want to stay here long term. Like many others in today's housing market, I have a very nice home for sale between SCottsville and BG. My family wishes to move into BG. IF you are seriously considering a move to the area let me know and I will provide some housing information for you.

I know it's wierd but check You Tube. I was researching McCreary County. I did a search on You Tube and found a tourism video that made me so excited to move! It was a wonderfully done video showing all the scenery and stuff to do. There were some older videos too from a real estate agent that advertised his listings that way. It was a pretty cool way to see the land. We are from Utah but plan to come back there in a couple years.
