Even if she doesn't win, which I hope she does and believe she can, either way it goes will be a close race.
You make my point very clearly, you aren't voting for Grimes, but against McConnell.
.
Yes, she does have the support of the union power-brokers, but not the rank and file who are worried about a job next year.

Oh, yes, the Courier-Journal and the Lexington Herald-Leader who have never supported a GOP member for dog catcher are supporting the Democrat candidate, but not Grimes.
.
Got to read those endorsements closely.

Not for those who have educated themselves properly. McConnell, like every one of us, has made mistakes, but his intentions have always been honorable. Sure, my wife can make a list of the number of times that I forgot, said something wrong, etc.
.
If you research the history of Mitch McConnell, his record is one of the most ideal records one could hope for in the representatives they send to govern.
.
I used to support anybody but Mitch, but the more I observed him, the more I recognized that he is doing exactly what I want from my Senator.
.
Again, not perfect, but close enough.

I just don't get it.
I don't get it either except traditions die hard here. Im not a Grimes fan, but McConnell is the posterbeast for everything that is wrong with politics . . . The corruption, sleaze, greed. etc. His Obama obsession is a glimpse of how out-of-touch he is. Obama is a lame-duck figurehead. He has no "agenda" other than the usual taking of our money to tithe to a corp, just the same as McConnell. No real liberals care what the conservative Obama is going to do with his last year or so. Its hilarious that McConnell has hung his hat on that shtick, funnier yet that people believe it. Politics is all about greed and sleaze, it's just that Grimes level of greed and sleaze is not nearly as dangerous and hurtful to the country as McConnell's is.

McConnell has one of the cleanest records in the history of politics and you call him corrupt. Please explain.
.
While you are at it. Show us the sleaze. And what greed...
.
Obama is entering the most dangerous two years of every presidents final term. They have no reason to play straight now.
.
Conservative Obama? Wow.... which university taught you that, Moscow?
.
I haven't read such farcical nonsense since the days of Al Capp's Little Abner.

So, this is your answer to my post that McConnell is clean? If your brother, a member of your family, is arrested for DUI, does that make you a felon?
.
Now if you try to harbor your brother from arrest, then you are as guilty as he.
.
McConnell's legacy is very clear and clean. It's just the way it is. He has too much to lose to be otherwise.

Speaking of communist, you might want to research McConnells FiL. This is who McConnell is in bed with, literally.
If you have to ask what is about, you shouldnt be commenting as you have . . .

But, this (quoted) response should answer the OP's question quite concisely. There are lots of people in KY who think like this. Probably not going to change anytime soon . . .

McConnell is one of the worst of the "eff-em, I got mine" anti-american nu-republican party. He needs to go.

I don't view McConnell as evil but I feel that I am voting against my own self interests to vote for 90% of Republican candidates.

I came from a hard childhood. My wife beating / alcoholic father died when I was one. My inheritance from him was some old fishing poles, a tackle box, and the gun he shot himself with. My mom was a hard working nurse who never earned much money. She died when I was 11. I was then raised by my two eldest siblings. None of us filled out a pre birth survey and chose to be born into such circumstances. Anyhoo, those "evil social programs" kept my older siblings from starving, put them through school, and gave us all a better life. I got to be raised in a middle class neighborhood, not the hood because they had good jobs only available through a college education they couldn't afford on their own. 4 of the 5 of us are college graduates who make 60k, 58k, 32k, and 32k. Take away all social programs and we all probably make minimum wage

For me generally not voting for Republicans.. why do I think this?

- They vote to block hard working people who lost jobs in recessions from getting unemployment benefit extensions in the longest recession in modern history

Republicans Block Unemployment Extension, Democrats Plan to Try Again (Updated) | The World's Greatest Deliberative Body

- They want to raise student loan interest rates. Why did today's young people go to college in mass? Because the baby boomers LIED to us and told us it was the best choice. I could do my same job with a 2 year degree from a Com College but I went to a "real" college and still owe $50k in loans. Raising interests would hurt me big time.

Trust me, Millenials will not push their children mindlessly to college but will say "get a two year degree, get a job, if you still need more education go back. Only engineers and doctors degrees are worth the extra two years of school.

Senate Republicans block consideration of student loan bill - CBS News

- While not perfect, I do support "Obama Care" in general as it provides the least among us with basic / preventative care. It may not be a net gainer for the budget but in the richest nation on earth it's the right moral choice

- They main issues they seem to care about (gay marriage, abortion, keeping drugs illegal) don't appeal to me. I don't view abortion as a good thing but some people have tough circumstances and no father involved. Would you prefer they do the same thing in a bad alley and die from infection? If people will buy drugs anyway why no treat it like hard liquor: legalize it, tax it, have strict laws for its use (not while driving, etc), and for hard drugs only offer it at medical facilities and offer free abuse clinics to get them off it. I really don't care about gay marriage, if gay people get married it doesn't threaten me.

As someone who is unable to vote (I am awaiting my residency), it has been very interesting - and rather painful - to watch the advertising campaigns over the past...well, it feels like forever LOL.

I have long had very Socialist leanings. So I was more in line with the NZ Labour Party, plus, being a Kiwi, I grew up in a very liberal nation (we gave women the vote before any other country hehe). Having spent recent years in Australia, I came across more racism, sexism and homophobia than I expected, but this did give me more debating practice... *looks innocent*

Now living in regional KY, I am shocked at how so many people can live in what appears to be at LEAST a generation past. My hubby is a Democrat, as are his parents, with whom we currently live, and as are my FIL's parents. In fact, DH's grandmother trolls Republicans on Facebook. She's terrible. I love her.

However, the BIGGEST part of DH's extended family is his mother's; there are lots of 'em. And they. Are. All. REPUBLICANS. And they are so far right that I don't think they realise there is even a political centre, never mind a political left. They admit that they don't care about McConnell's campaign as they have to vote for him anyway. (That's what God wants.) Some of the women in the family don't vote in case it cancels out their husband's vote. (That's what God wants.) Men have careers; women have jobs, and anyone else who says otherwise is clearly NOT in their right mind. (Apparently God agrees with that, too.) People of colour really are not fully-human, and members of the LGBT community are choosing to not be "normal". (Yes, more God stuff.)

Homeschooling is the Democrats' way to ensure God is kept out of the public school system, so it's evil, and not Godly.

Vegetarianism is not Godly.

Women in trousers is not Godly.

Questioning why things are done in a certain way is not Godly.

Leaving the small town in which you grew up - nope, not Godly.

Voting Democrat - hang on, God is a Republican, so of course NOT Godly.

My DH, DS, in-laws and I spend a fair amount of time facepalming. We're not Republican-haters or anything, but the style of Republicans around here are blinkered and rather insufferable. The majority of our community will vote for Mitch because he's a Republican, and for no other reason; most of them couldn't even tell you what he stands for and what he's done over 30 years, good or bad. He's on the Right. So he's God's representative in the Senate for Kentucky, and he must be kept there.
