Eastern KY has the largest mountains and scenic beauty. There are no major cities so you won't hear much rap or anything. Still what does having rap stations have to do with anything? Your wishes imply racism, but I am not here to accuse.

I can assure you that Eastern KY has mountains and nothing but country stations and country people. You might hear one or two "top 40" stations that will play current hits which always include many rap songs, but there are usually less of those in remote areas and people tend toward conservative values based in on the Bible. There are a couple quaint towns with a hint of culture like Pikeville, but certainly nothing like a major city like Louisville or even Lexington would have. If you are looking for country and mountains, KY is the right place for you--almost anywhere outside Louisville would fit your wishes. But then again, Louisville may as well be its own state.

Hi,

Since the last postings for this were in November, I don't know if you'll read this but I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth anyway just in case you might see it. There is no getting around it, Eastern Kentucky is lovely and mountainous. However most of the people tend to forget MidSouthern Kentuck. We live in Cumberland county just a few miles north of the Tennessee border. There are beautiful rough limestone bluffs that are more like mountainous foot hills. The scenery is gorgeous the hunting and fishing are fantastic. We live outside Burkesville and they have a bluegrass festival every year. The local radio station plays mostly all country/western, bluegrass and gospel music. The people are friendly and helpful and we think it's a great place to live. We are having to sell our house do to a job transfer but we don't want to. We are staying in Kentucky but having to relocate. We just hate leaving this area. In the Spring when the dogwoods and redbud trees start to bloom and the daffodils are all out, I swear they must have to chain the angels up to keep them from coming here. The winters tend to be mild also. You might get a bit of snow now and then but it's friendly snow that doesn't hang around long. We moved here from Northern Illinois and we haven't touched a snow shovel since we've lived here.
