Coming from Michigan would it be a good trip to visit Mammoth caves for 2 nights, this summer? I've never been on that side of Kentucky. It would be my brother, his wife, and kid. I've heard it's interesting, but other people say it's not. Also I'd like to take a tour of a local wiskey factory, maybe Marker's mark.

Both of these attractions are well worth the trip/s. I and my family have been there many times.

I really like it, but I guess it depends on whether you're interested in caves. They have the bigger, more popular cave tours that get a little full and touristy, but there are also miles and miles of smaller, quieter cave areas that you can tour if you're up for the challenge.

Well it is the longest cave in the world and one of the natural wonders of the world. I'd say go, we've been a few time and enjoyed it each time.

Absolutely! Go when it is horribly hot and humid outside. The caves are naturally cool and wonderfully refreshing on those days. You will enjoy Bardstown area and its bourbon trail. Be sure to check out My Old Kentucky Home and if time allows, the musical "Stephen Foster Story". This is also Abe Lincoln's 200th birthday celebration year. Tremendous American history along US 31 E from Cave City to Cox's Creek.

It's nice, and the tours don't cost that much.

Yes, it is worth it. Make sure to buy tickets beforehand online or over the phone. Some of the more popular tours at the most popular times can sell out on the weekends. During the week it shouldn't be a problem.

Definitely check out Maker's Mark while down. Also, visit Bardstown since it like 15 minutes from Maker's. It is an old little town with antiques and a quaint town center. There is My Old Kentucky Home and Stephen Foster story are there. Sample some Maker's and other Kentucky bourbons at the Old Talbott Tavern. You can't try it at the distillery because it is in a dry county . Woodford Reserve is another great distillery outside of Versailles, set right in the middle of horse farms. You can actually try the product there.

^^^The Jailer's Inn is a cool Bed and Breakfast in downtown Bardstown that I've always wanted to stay in. It is an old jail that has been made into a B&B.
