My husband and I are about to start seriously looking for a new house to buy in the Louisville area. But before we begin, there's a house I saw online for sale around September or October 2015 that I really loved. I remember the house listing disappeared and it didn't show up as pending or sold, on redfin, so I think it was simply delisted or an expired listing.

How can I find the listing without starting the process of talking to a Realtor? I know that Realtors can look up expired MLS listings without any problem, but I don't want to take that serious of a step yet. Also, I forget exactly where it was located. It was in one of two zip codes, but I'm not sure exactly where. I'd need to see the house photo to be sure.

Thanks for any help you guys can give. I appreciate it.

Some listings are fake. The realtor wants your business, so they list a house that isn't really for sale, in the hope that you will contact them about it, and they can sell you some other house. A clue that it's a fake listing is that the asking price is significantly lower than it seems like it should be. Or if it has an incorrect street address.

No, this was a real listing. I can't recall if it was in the 40291 or 40047 zip code, however. The price was around $400K. It wasn't inexpensive for the area, so I don't think it was a fake listing. It'd been listed for several months and went off the market around October, but wasn't ever a pending sale and it doesn't show up as sold. I scan Redfin to look for those listings all the time. My personal obsessive hobby.

I didn't like the kitchen, but would like to see the house again to decide whether it's worth the time to remodel the kitchen. The backyard was really nice, and it had an in-ground pool. I don't remember much else about the house but figured if I could look at recently expired listings in the $375K-$420K range, with in-ground pools, I'd find it.

Did you find it ? Sometimes they may relist it again in a few weeks. It happened to me too but I remembered the address.

Check zillow ( on a laptop) so you can search only houses that sold and for that price range. It may show up and there is another good local website but can't list on here (TOS). If the owners just pulled it off the market, it will be more challenging.

What do you plan on doing if you locate said-used-to-be-4- sale house? Rule#1 is don't get too emotionally attached to a house until you own it.
