My husband and I have been researching a move to Kentucky. We have been wondering what areas we should look. We are wanting to find a home with acreage (10+), that is reasonable in price, but not out in the middle of nowhere. Although we do not need to be near jobs since we both work from home and my husband is near retirement. We are looking for a slow pace but not a no-pace area in which to live. Any suggestions on where to begin looking?

We also breed AKC dogs and have horses so we want some room to roam.

Try western ky Trigg Co. is close to ky and barkley lakes.
The Wranglers Campground in Land Between the Lakes has several trails for horseback riding. The land in the area is affordable. However Cadiz (the county seat) does not even have a Wal-Mart.
Christian Co. is located in western ky also it is a larger community the land prices are about the same. Perhaps Paducah Ky its a larger community also.
If your really into horses check out the Lexington area. Im not sure what the land prices are but Lexington is beautiful horse farm country and a large enough community.

Hi,

We live in Cumberland county Kentucky near Burkesville. This is a lovely area and it has a good golf course near as well as a championship bass fishing lake. We have neighbors and but they aren't right on top of you. We really love it here. We have all four seasons, Spring is just gorgeous here and the winters are mild. Unfortunately we are having to move due to a job change. We also work from home but we are having to do more onsite stuff. We are so reluctant to leave this area but we are going to have to sell our house. It's a three bedroom two bathroom ranch. We have a 16 acre bluff. A lot of it is wooded but we have around 7 acres clear. We were planning on using part of it for horse pasture but as we are moving that isn't going to happen. There are a number of other horsey people around and a lot of activities like trailrides and things during the year. If you are interested on hearing anymore let me know.

Default Dogs are not an assumption

As your post indicates you may already know, be certain of zoning and/or deed restrictions prior to choosing your primary choice. There are many counties left in Kentucky without a zoning law, but that doesnt meant that certain deed restrictions may apply to specific properties.

That being said, Trimble County is approximately midway between Louisville and Cincinnati airports. Has good value and near good entertainment spots.

If you are looking for a small, friendly town look at Cadiz, KY. We are located in the south western area of KY.
To our west is Barkley Lake & The Land Between the Lakes where hunting, fishing and horseback riding abound.
Check out http://www.barkleylake.com (broken link)
We have US68/KY80 which runs straight through Cadiz and to our east we have Interstate 24 which can get you to larger cities in a short amount of time.
Hopkinsville, KY within about 24 miles
Murray, KY within about 37 miles
Clarksville, TN within about 40 miles
Evansville, IN within about 79 miles
Nashville, TN within about 83 miles
We have Janice Mason Art Museum check out http://www.jmam.org/
We have our own radio station check out http://wkdzradio.com
If you are into genealogy or history check out http://www.westernkyhistory.org/trigg/
As far as home/land prices 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 car garage with 12.8 acres of land for $206,000.00 or an older home with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths 2 car garage with 12.8 acres of land for $173,900.00
I hope I have helped in some way. If you would like more information just let me know.
Have a blessed day!
