My wife and I are looking for a winter place , being from the U.P Mich we are tired of the long , cold , snowy winters.
We already know you have winter there but nothing like where we live , i do have a few questions for the Elizabeth town area. Which way do the politics lean , What is the median income , young , older mix , whats the classic car culture like ?
My wife and I still work but we can work from home and we want to get away from these long , cold winters. But not be to far south , I hate the heat.

I’m pretty familiar with E-Town since my mother lives close by and works up at Ft. Knox.

- Elizabethtown I would rate as solidly middle class as far as income.

- It is an area with a major military influence so it will lean conservative socially where the majority of Kentucky is farther right but not enough to if you bat for other team (Bernie Sanders supporter here) you will still feel comfortable in ETown.

- It will lean older and mostly families but the military will add in a small population of younger folks working at Ft. Knox.

- The classic car culture is actually very present. There is a dealership which has a visited museum of classic cars and one of the megachurches in town puts on a car show at their July 4th celebration.

Overall, I think Elizabethtown is a good choice if you want a decent sized town with enough to do with decent access to a bigger city (Louisville, Cincinnati, Lexington.)

I was born and raised in Elizabethtown (one word - let’s get that straight). E-town is first and foremost largely Baptist first, Catholic second, and Methodist third. The long time residents will distance themselves from the Radcliff and Ft Knox element as it is more transient and more prone to crime. The people are solid red in their politics. My aunt who was Canadian born and democratic and initially had trouble finding her clique until she joined the women’s club.

It’s a great place for family values. Plenty of loyalty surrounds high school sports.

Violent crime is rare but does happen. Easy access and short commutes to minor cities like Louisville and Lexington.

Winters don’t involve MI sized snow falls but features Chicago style temps and wind. Raw and variable.

KY features lots of state parks and lakes.
