The weather is bad everywhere, unfortunately that's just the way it is these days.

Here we have wildfires - last year was so bad that my husband and I packed our things just in case we had to evacuate. To make it worse, we've been told that it might be as bad this year too.

As for the humidity, I think that finding a home with a/c would help a lot. In Hawaii humidity is the norm, we'll just have to get used to it again. *giggles* I'm wondering if I'll be able to grow some of the plants I grew in Hawaii - that would be amazing...

Even though I'm still researching other areas, Murray seems like the place we may retire to.

I cannot thank all of you enough for the help, kindness and patience with my silly questions you've shown. Even though my husband and I may not know you personally I feel so blessed to have met you all here.

I'm sure along the way I'll have more questions, but it's wonderful to know that I have a place to come to and wonderful people such as yourselves to answer it.

Frankie

Lots of diversity, depends on what you are looking for.
Really different from California, for sure.

LOVE the videos! Thank you so much for that

I have another question which has to do with wildlife.

1) Are termites a problem for houses there? (In Hawaii it's a huge problem)

2) Can you tell me please if fire ants are an issue in Murray?

3) Snakes. Here where I live in Lake Shastina we only have garter snakes which we rarely see. Of course we have the rattlers but they're not around my area. After reading about the different types of snakes in Kentucky, can you please tell me if Murray has them and if so what kind? Should I be concerned? Any input would be *greatly* appreciated!

Thank you again ♥

1) There are termites, but I've lived in 8 or 9 different houses in my lifetime in the area, and never had a single problem with them. You can contract exterminators who will check your house annually for termites.

2) No fire ants around here

3) Yes there are snakes. Wouldn't have to worry about them in town. Most I've seen around here are garden and black snakes, both harmless. There are cottonmouths around, but mainly around the rivers.

We do have a tick problem. If you take any hikes through the woods anywhere around, check for ticks when you get home. I've fished around Kentucky and Barkley Lakes a lot already this year and luckily haven't found one on me...yet.

We live near Chico and are looking to move to Kentucky too! You should post again after you move to tell how you like it!

I sure will! We're not moving right now, but soon. I can't wait to get there and if we reach there before you, I certainly *will* let you know!

Auntie, like I tell quite a few people who are thinking of moving to Kentucky, once you get settled make sure you visit the rest of the Commonwealth. There are 120 counties and a little something for everybody in all of them.
Lived in Kentucky all my life (so far!) and love it here.
