Hello all,

My family and I are new in Bowling Green and looking for a house to buy. We are hoping to buy something that fall into a price range between $300K-$400K. Ideally the house is between 12-15 mins drive from WKU. We also don't know how long we will stay here, so we want to buy something that has a good resale value.

We recently found a house in Hunting Creek subdivision (near Boat River cave). The house is gorgeous, and it seems it is surrounded by premium houses ($500K and above). But we wonder why this house and other houses in this neighborhood seem to be slow to sell. Also, it seems that some locals whom we talked to do not regard Warren Central as a good quality school. This is puzzling to us, why does a seemingly premium subdivision have a not-so-great school?

If you have been living in Bowling Green for a long time, can you let me know if Hunting Creek subdivision and the surrounding area are considered good neighborhoods?

We also found multiple beautiful houses outside William Natcher freeway that fall into South Warren school district. We figured that South Warren is regarded as a top school. However, we are concerned with the traffic and it seems we spend more than 20 mins to reach WKU and other parts of town, so we do not see a clear winner here.

I would be grateful for any suggestions or local insights that you could provide. Thank you so much!

Bowling Green is so close to Nashville that you could almost live just across the state line in places like Portland, Gallatin and Hendersonville, TN and commute. There are some beautiful homes north of Nashville.

Wondering if you found anything. We moved to BG in April and went into an apartment with the aim of finding a house at some point. We have a contract now on a house under 200k off Cave Mill Road but we looked at many houses close to our apartment just off Nashville Road, on the south side of the Natcher freeway. If you go to the area around McLennan road you would find many houses in your price range. WKU is a straight shot down 31 and many people here are students at WKU or work there.
