Does anyone have experience finding/hiring Amish or Mennonite barn builders? I'd like to raise a horse barn on my property (in the Georgetown area) to replace the run in, and ideally I would like to contract with an Amish builder. Any help and/or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Dave

One of my Aunts used Amish carpenters from around the Upton area several years ago for a home remodel. They did amazing work and her house turned out great. Good Luck!

Amish usually do outstanding jobs with any sort of building they do! I've often heard they're the best you can buy.

I've heard the same, which is why I'm keen to contract them!

Blue_eyedgirl - do you happen to know how your Aunt initiated the hiring process? I have no contacts in the Amish community, and I'd feel a little awkward approaching someone and saying "You look Amish. Want to build me a barn?"

I am in contact with Amish in northern Kentucky, about 25-35 miles from Georgetown. We had some work done at our house last weekend and I may be able to help arrange the work you are looking for. If you are still interested, please let me know.Joel.

To OB1CNOB and anyone else with information. I am new at this so I apologize if I am not posting this correctly! I am trying to establish contact with amish builders in my area to build a home and barn on my property. I live near the Dover Tn, Cadiz Ky area. I know there are communites near me in Paris Tn and Roaring Springs Tn, but I am like Daibheid I prefer to have a contact and not just intrude on someone. Anybody have any info?

kannm, I've been here in Cadiz permanently for a little over a year. Too bad you aren't up around the Crittenden County area. I could take you to some of the Amish. The only Amish that I know where they are have a farm on Ky. 272 between Hopkinsville and Cadiz. I believe if you asked them they may be able to refer you to the ones doing the building. Just don't try to talk to them on Sunday. They won't talk to you on the Lord's Day.
