I don't know what this has to do with Kentucky either, but try to look at it from the other side. My parents can't stand my husband and he has never given them a reason. He is polite and well-mannered to them, treats me well, and is a great father to our children. The only thing he has done is that he is from Kentucky and doesn't want to live in SC where they live. I HATE it that they talk about him behind his back and urge me to leave him so I can move back home. It constantly puts me in the middle. In truth, I refuse to move back to SC because of the way they treat him behind his back. They're polite to him when he is around. Please understand that your dislike for her husband is probably making your daughter miserable.

My parents have never "constantly" put me in the middle, and here's why: when they pulled basically a similar stunt with me, I didn't talk to them for about two years. That put an end to that nonsense. There's no reason you should ever be "in the middle" unless your husband gives you a reason to be there. Otherwise you should be clearly and unambiguously on one side and not "in the middle."
