Hi, I moved to Madisonville, Ky. about 5 months ago. I moved here for my fiancee's job. I also gave up a great job with the VA. I'm having a problem finding a job here. Is there anyone familiar with this area that could give me some tips? I'm starting to wonder if it's because I'm an outsider here.
Otherwise the city is great. If anyone else is having this problem, let me know how you solved it.

Dear Shadow - I truly hope you are incorrect in the assumption of an outsider. If this is the case, then none of the companies you have applied to are professional.

I am somewhat in the same boat, as I was down-sized in June, and have only recently been offered a position. Having been disillusioned for so long, I still will believe I have it when I walk in the door.

What do you do? Nursing? Administrative?

Please fill me in and I will attempt to find a place for you to begin your search. There are staffing agencies around which are wonderful.

Hang in there. It will get better. Let me know your exact profession (pm me if you like) as soon as you can so I may begin my search for you.

Take care - and welcome!

If you look in the state government pages of your phonebook, pay attention to the one for the Office of Education and Training, formerly known as the Department for Employment Services. They are an excellent resource, and have greatly helped me in the past. Good Luck. They can be reached online at oet.gov
