Well, John, the closest point on the Kentucky state line from Cookeville is on US 127, about 45 miles north of there.

Try this: drive north on TN 111 to US 127. Take US 127 north into Clinton County, KY, just over the state line; about 10 miles west of Albany is a very secluded park called Dale Hollow State Resort Park. PM me and I can give you directions there. It would be a good, "way off the beaten path" type of place to spend the night on a campsite or in a cabin. DCSRP is about 1 hr. 15-20 min. from Cookeville.

Or, you continue north on US 127 into Russell County and try Lake Cumberland State Resort Park. This probably ties with Dale Hollow as being the most secluded, remote state park in the state. Direct access into the park off US 127, but it's five miles of curvy, narrow road to the lodge, cabins, campsites, marina, etc. LCSRP is probably 1 hr. 40 min. north of Cookeville.

You could also visit the Corbin area, home of Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, which has one of only two waterfalls in the world (I believe) with a moonbow. It's also one of the largest waterfalls in North America other than Niagara. Corbin also has Colonel Sanders Cafe, the original KFC. Corbin's a nice place to visit. You can take I-40 east to I-75 north, or be more daring and take US 127 to KY 90 east; this will be probably a 2 hr. 15 min. drive from Cookeville.

Good luck!

Another Corbin debate? Ugh.... Didn't this get settled somewhere earlier? I personally love both London and Corbin but seriously, we don't need another arguement.
